Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
Lying right at the heart of Hanoi capital, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is Uncle Ho’s final resting place set in front of the gorgeous and historic Ba Dinh Square, where Uncle Ho read the Vietnam Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945. The Mausoleum was officially started on September 2nd, 1973 and firstly opened in 1975 for Vietnamese people and international guests to come and pay their respect to the greatest figure of Vietnamese history.
A visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum should be combined with Ho Chi Minh Museum, Uncle Ho’s residence (stilt house & fish pond) and the unique architecture of One Pillar Pagoda.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum opens in the morning every day in the week, except Monday and Friday. It is a sacred place so you are required to dress formally. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are not accepted. Also, you aren’t permitted to bring hats, bags, phones, and cameras inside as they must be deposited at two separate counters in the main entrance.
Vietnam Ethnology Museum
On the way from Noi Bai International Airport to Hanoi’s Old Quarter, visitors can stop at the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnology, which features colorful exhibits of 54 ethnic cultures in Vietnam. It is listed on the top of must-see attraction in Hanoi and is considered as an ideal place to learn about the 54 different ethnic tribes of Vietnam.
Ethnology Museum is located at Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Cau Giay District. Since 1997, it has been opened to the public from 8.30 – 17.30 from Tuesday to Sunday.
The museum is in itself an interesting artwork. Its exhibition building was designed as a Dong Son drum by Ha Duc Linh, a Vietnamese architect coming from the Tay ethnic group. Its interior design was completed by the French architect Veronique Dollfus.
Imperial Citadel of Thang Long
Spreading an area of 18,395 square meters, the central sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long includes the archaeological area at 18 Hoang Dieu Street (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) and relics in Ha Noi Citadel.
