Mountains in Vietnam are always listed among the best in the world to discover thanks to its untouched beauties and ravishing appearances. Apart from their top heights in the world, Vietnam mountains also boast dazzling landscape and a lot of unique features that distinguish with the others. 

1. Fansipan Mountain, Lao Cai

Located in Sapa - Lao Cai Province, Fansipan or the so-called "The Roof of Indochina" is the highest mountain in Vietnam (3143m). The mountain belongs to Hoang Lien Son mountain range - one of the greatest of its kind in Vietnam. Fansipanmeans “giant stone plate” in the local language. According to scientists, it was formed around 250 millions of years ago, between the Permian period in the Paleozoic era and the Triassic period in the Mesozoic era. To conquer the peak of Fansipan, you have to prepare carefully as it takes you around 4 days to get there. Apart from a health condition, you need to have great experiences and skill in hiking, trekking and navigating. Make sure you bring along enough food for 4 days, jackets, medicine, sleeping bags, compass, map, and other useful objects. It is recommended to hire a local guide or porter to go with your groups so he can not only show you the right and safest way to go but also help you carry some stuff.

2. Langbiang, Da Lat

Not only famous for the romantic beauty of pine trees and colorful flowers, but the mountain also associated with a touchy love story of K’ho people, an ethnic minority in Vietnam. 3. Ba Na Hills, Da Nang

Ba Na Hills was founded in 1919 by. the French colonists on the Truong Son Mountains. The hilltop is at an elevation of 1500m, comprises for a fascinating resorts with western-style building, entertainment hubs and gaming center for children.

Ba Na Hills recently becomes a destination star on famous newspapers, articles and social network thanks to the construction of the Golden Bridge. This phenomenal bridge, hold by the "Hands of Giant Mountain God”, is designed by TA Landscape Architecture to connect the cable car station to Ba Na Hills gardens. What is crazier than walking on the Golden Bridge and admire the breathtaking landscape over mountains, valleys, ocean and Da Nang city below?

4. Phu Si Lung, Lai Chau

At an altitude of 3076m, Phu Si Lung ranked the third of the highest mountains in Vietnam after Fansipan (3143m) and Phu Ta Leng (3096m). However, this must be the most difficult mountain in Vietnam to conquer due to its long and arduous journey to reach its peak. 

Departing from Pa De Su's border post to the peaks of Pu Si Lung peak, climbers need to take at least 4 days and 3 nights trekking through over 100km up and down of rugged forest trails, mountain cliffs, and streams. Although the journey is long, the unspoiled scenery and natural beauty in this region can easily blow your mind.

Not like Fansipan, there’s no cable car to get to the peak. Hence, if you’re searching for extreme hiking challenges to conquer in North-Western Vietnam, then just put Phu Si Lung at the top of your list.

How to get to Phu Si Lung?

Phu Si Lung Mountain is located at the remote district of Muong Te, Lai Chau ProvinceNorthwestrth west of Hanoi. It takes 11 hours to get there on mountain roads and passes of Northern Vietnam. It is recommended to take a local bus named Ngan Ha that departs from My Dinh Bus Station straight to Muong Te, Lai Chau.

5. Ba Vi, Hanoi

Located 60 km West of Hanoi City, Ba Vi Mountain Range solemnly stands at the heart of Ba Vi National Park - the green lung of Hanoi and surrounded provinces. Ba Vi Range comprises for several high peaks, in particular, the highest ones is Nui Vui or King Mountain (1296m) and Tan Vien Mountain (1281m). Conquering Ba Vi National Park is also a great chance to explore the biodiversity of Vietnam wildlife as it is home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna.

6. Ham Rong Mountain, Sapa

There are 3 ideal spots for sightseeing in Ham Rong Mountain. The first one is orchard garden 1 where you can behold Sapa ancient church hiding under the old trees’ shading. The second one is Sapa telecommunication station where you can gaze out Fansipan Mountain – the highest one in the Indochinese peninsula. 7. Marble Mountain or Ngu Hanh Son Mountain

Marble Mountain or Ngu Hanh Son Mountain is a complex of 5 mountains, including Kim, Moc, Thuy, Hoa, Tho. Those names are based on 5 factors of Ngu Hanh – important elements of Eastern philosophy. Each mountain offers a feeling of tranquility and purity. Hiding under lush trees’ shading, the ancient pagoda was erected many centuries ago, which brings unique experience about Vietnamese Buddhist culture for a long time.

Visiting Marble Mountain surely offers you an insight into Buddhism in Vietnam as you can easily reach 2 of most sacred pagodas in Da Nang – Tam Thai and Linh Ung. Despite being suffered from guns and bombs in the American War, especially the battles in 1969, these 2 pagodas are standing still, containing a lot of beautiful architecture and mysterious features.

From the peaks of Marble Mountain, you will have a sublime overview of Non-Nuoc beach. This site is extremely suitable for water sports and it also used to be the destination for international surfing in the past time.

How to go to Marble Mountain?

Marble Mountain is located in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son district, about 10km south of Da Nang city center. To reach the area of Marble Mountain, you can transfer by motorbike or taxi on 2 ways: in the city center and on the seaside roads of Vo Nguyen Giap and Truong Sa.
