Explore Fairy Cave – 2 Days/1 Night

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Phong Nha – Tan Hoa – Hang Uy. Overnight on Camping (L/D)

Morning activities:

Start the first day from your hotel in Phong Nha from 7.30 – 8.00 am, the driver transfers you to the office and takes 1 hour on the car. From here you will learn about the safety measures, collect your gear and sign in our Release Form.

10.30 am: The real-time starts the tour at the office for Fairy Cave. It takes you the first walking distance within 1-hour trekking up and downhill as well as cross the river to follow the path leading to Hang Uy – a young dry cave. Especially it was named by one of the safety guide assistants. To discover this cave, it requires you to have a good rock scrambling skill over a sharp steep hill of 20 m up to the cave entrance. Have lunch.

Afternoon & evening activities:

After discovery the beauties of  Uy Cave, you find your way to out of the cave and trek upriver to the camping site. It is located next to a beautiful natural jungle pool. This is also the chance for you to get a refreshing atmosphere and swim on fresh cool water. You have time for shooting beautiful photos of the sunset over the jungle.

After that you set up your camp, the porters will prepare a fulfilling BBQ dinner. Overnight at the camp.

Fairy cave

Day 2: Fairy Cave 1 – Fairy Cave 2 – Tan Hoa – Phong Nha (B/L)

Morning activities:

You get up early in the jungle and enjoy the fresh air on the mountain. It will give you a great impression. Have the breakfast which prepared by porter team since early.

Then you will start your day by climbing over the field before reaching the beautiful cave of Fairy Cave 1 after 1 hour.

At Fairy Cave  1 it is about 50m inside the entrance, lays a large chamber where the ceiling is beautifully patterned. There are two sections in the cave, one on the right is to go down which lead you to pass on the left hand will have many pools.

Pushing forward, you continue through most of Fairy Cave 1 and up to a ladder, from which the exit of Fairy Cave 1 will be visible. You will exit the cave approximately at 11.00 am.

You continue the trekking through the jungle for thirty minutes; you’ll head to Fairy Cave 2 where you’ll find many formations and you’ll trek about 300 m into the cave. You will back through the exit of Fairy Cave 1. Enjoy a picnic lunch.

Afternoon activities:

This afternoon, you will trek your return way to back the road, where cold drinks will await you. The driver welcomes you and transfers you back the office around 4.00 pm. You’ll have time to shower and change into fresh clothes before the driver transfers you heading back to your hotel in Phong Nha. Tour ends at your hotel in Phong Nha around 18.30 pm. Say goodbye after a great time camping and trekking in the forest.

Inclusion

– Light PVC backpack (if you do not want to take your own, as it will get wet)

– Basic canvas trekking boots (only if you do not have your own pair) sizes 36 - 46

Useful Information

Tien Cave is a moderate trek because of the rocky terrain in the thickness and humidity of tropical jungle. It requires you to have good physical fitness with outdoor and trekking experience. Please make sure that your health is suitable for these activities before taking part in the tour.

– 13 km jungle and mountain trekking, rocky terrain, river crossings

– 5.5 km caving

– 2 days and 1-night camping in the jungle

– Any member of the guide team reserves the right to turn around any person at any time without compensation or refund as deemed necessary for safety or conservation reasons.

Please also bring with you the following:

– 1 long (easy to dry) pants and 2 long sleeved shirts to wear during the trek (quick dry)

– 1 pair of shorts and a t-shirt to wear at the campsite and swimsuit

– 1 pair of trekking boots/shoes – difficult terrain, good footwear necessary. Gore-Tex/waterproof boots are NOT recommended as they do not drain well

– 1 pair of flip-flops (sandals) for the campsite

– 1 medium size towel

– 2 – 3 pairs of calf-length densely woven socks (not ankle socks!)

– 1 change of clothes for after the tour

– Personal items: mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hat, camera, underwear, toiletries

If you are trekking in the colder months (November to March) please bring additional warm clothes for the evening and an extra change of long pants and a shirt for swimming.
